Waterford Kevin Arnold Shiraz 2016
Gyártó: Waterford
Drink it now or cellar for up to 15 years. It is recommended to decant it for half an hour. Located on the slopes of Mount Helderberg in the prestigious Stellenbosch wine region in South Africa, the Waterford Estate enjoys exceptional soil and climatic conditions, particularly favorable for the production of quality wines. The estate, owned by the Ord family, began its activity in 1998, with the collaboration of the legendary winemaker Kevin Arnold. Today the vineyard operations are managed by viticulturist David van Schalkwyk and winemaker Mark Le Roux. The estate is also a renowned wine tourism destination. The Shiraz and Mourvedre grapes for this wine come from vineyards grown in the Stellenbosch region, mainly on the Waterford Estate with an average age of 20 years. The favorable position of the vineyards at the foot of Mount Helderberg and not far from the ocean guarantees cool night temperatures which generate well-balanced wines with good acidity. The name of Waterford Shiraz pays homage to Kevin Arnold, the estate's first winemaker, and managing partner since 1998. The aromatic profile reveals intense aromas of red fruits and plums, spices, and licorice with some earthy notes. On the palate, the wine has a good structure with velvety tannins and a full body. The finish is persistent and fresh, also thanks to the small addition of Mourvedre. It is the perfect wine to accompany mixed grilled meat and pasta with light game sauces.
