Ktima Papaioannou Old Vines Agiorgitiko 2015
Gyártó: Ktima Papaioannou
Drink it now or cellar for up to 15 years. It is recommended to decant it for half an hour. Founded in 1876 in the ancient wine region of Nemea, in the Peloponnese, Ktima Papaioannou is a family business, today managed by George, the fourth generation of the family and son of Thanasis, a key figure in the modern Greek wine scene. The company pays particular attention to the cultivation of native vines according to the terroir. The estate vineyards that extend over approximately 57 hectares, are cultivated organically, and are planted mainly with Agiorgitiko, an ancient native vine. The Agiorgitiko grapes are sourced from a specific part of the estate's vineyard with vines around 40 years old. After fermentation, the wine matures for 12 months in French oak barrels and then rests for another 12 months in the bottle. This multi-awarded wine has a deep ruby color and reveals intense aromas of red fruits, such as sour cherries, plums, spices, aromatic herbs and chocolate notes. On the palate, it is rich and full, with a good concentration of ripe fruit. The acidity is lively and the tannins are moderate and smooth. This wine has all the characteristics of a classic Agiorgitiko and goes deliciously with stewed or grilled red meats served with spicy sauces.
